Here at All Wheel, we are not limited to selling one brand of shock or strut. In fact, because we are an independent repair shop, we like to recommend the very best product for your vehicle. There are many brands to choose from and prices do vary. We want your ride as smooth as possible
and at the best possible price. Give us a call or come by for a product
demonstration.

Shock absorbers are used to return the suspension to its
natural position quickly and smoothly. Not only do shock absorbers
control the compression of the spring, but the expansion (or
rebound) as well.
Shock absorbers control or dampen the movement of springs by
using fluid or gas forced through oriphises in the shock absorbers
piston. The size of the holes determine the damping effect of the
shock. As the shock absorber compresses or expands, a piston
inside moves through oil or hydraulic fluid. The piston's movement
is resisted by the fluid, which must pass through small holes in
it. If the holes are made smaller, the shock absorber becomes
stiffer, and delivers what's commonly known as a sportier ride
with firmer handling characteristics.
Another method used to deliver sportier handling performance is
to use a chamber of pressurized gas, such as nitrogen, above the
fluid in the shock absorber. The gas further helps the damping
action as it compresses and expands. Gas-pressurized shocks
respond more progressively to bumps, so the hydraulic components
of a shock absorber can be designed for "stiffer" action
(for good handling) with a minimal addition of harshness to the
ride. Gas-pressurized shocks have become a standard feature on
many high performance cars.
Air shocks have an internal air chamber provided so that
vehicle curb height can be kept constant as vehicle loading
varies. The internal air chamber can be filled or emptied
depending upon vehicle loading either manually or automatically
depending upon the air shock system used.
Trucks
and motorhomes need shocks that can handle the weight while delivering the ride of a passenger car. We use KYB's RV and
Motorhome series gas shocks, specially engineered to meet the
needs of today's class "A" and "C" motorhomes
and conversion vans. These vehicles need more control and
stability than the typical OE shock can deliver. Whether you're
replacing damaged shocks or upgrading for better performance you
will notice the improved ride and handling, bringing back the
comfort and control you had when your vehicle was new.
